The easiest and quickest way to get to Little Corn Island is by plane to Big Corn Island but it’s slightly more expensive than by boat, which is also possible.
By plane, around one hour from Managua to Big Corn Island costs $165 return ticket.
By bus+boat, around 1 day traveling from Managua to Big Corn costs around $40 one way.
Taking a taxi from the airport to the dock costs $1 per person (5 minutes)
Taking a water taxi (panga) to Little Corn costs $6 per person (around 30 minutes)
By plane From Managua To Big Corn Island
Book online at www.lacostena.com.ni. Make sure you keep the confirmation number to check in at the airport. In high season (from December to April) you must book 2 or 3 days in advance to avoid disappointment.

The flight takes just over 1 hour, but you won’t notice because the views are spectacular. Sometimes there is a brief stop in Bluefields, which adds 15 min.

By Bus+Boat From Managua To Big Corn Island
Getting to Corn Islands by land takes around a day. It might take more time, if the boat’s schedules don’t coincide. If you want to be sure to make it in one day, you must get the earliest bus from Managua to the port of Rama, which takes around 6 hours. A popular option is taking an overnight bus to arrive in Rama slightly before dawn.
Then from Rama, supply ships leave to Big Corn on Thursday morning only.
Water Taxi (Panga) to Little Corn Island
The Panga schedule is connected with the La Costena flights, so don’t worry you won’t miss the flight if the Panga leaves a bit late.
To Little Corn Island:
- BCI to LCI Departs around 10:00am arrives around 10:30am (from the morning flight)
- BCI to LCI Departs 4:30pm arrives 5:00pm (from the afternoon flight)
From Little Corn to Big Corn
- LCI to BCI Departs 6:30am arrives 7:00am (for the morning flight)
- LCI to BCI Departs 1:30pm arrives 2:00pm (for the afternoon flight)
The ride costs $6.00 per person each way. The trip takes about half hour. It’s a pretty wet ride, there is a dry room for the large luggage, but carry on bags might get wet during the ride, so bring a waterproof/plastic bag.
Little Corn Island does not have an ATM, so before coming to paradise make sure you have enough cash. It’s possible to take out money form the bars and restaurants but they will charge you 10%.
